Coach Marcelo Gallardo announced this Thursday that he will leave the technical direction of the Argentine club River Plate at the end of his contract, which has led the most successful cycle in the entity's history for the last eight years.
“My contract ends in December and I will no longer be at the club. It is one of the most difficult and heartfelt decisions, (it is a) delicate moment to express myself”, said an emotional Gallardo at a press conference.
With two dates to finish the local championship, rushed by the start of the World Cup in Qatar in November, the 46-year-old Argentine coach said that Sunday will probably be the last day he leads River as a local at the Monumental stadium.
“It is possible that on Sunday I will have my last game at the Monumental. Just thank you for the love and affection you have given me,” he told the fans.
