With his nails he defended his home Piratas de La Guaira on Saturday to finally win 117 – 111 to Llaneros de Guárico, after two extra times in an exciting match at the José María Vargas Dome.
The Navy narrowly dominated the first half and went into halftime up 40-38. But in the third quarter Llaneros grew and went up by five (67-72).
The last 10 minutes were very intense.
In fact, by the middle of the quarter the locals were leading 83-82 and, just when they began to think about victory, Marcus Thomas appeared to tie it at 90 with 27 seconds remaining.
Piratas needed two extensions to finally add their sixth victory of the season and to establish themselves in third position in the Southern Division, two games above Llaneros (4-9).
Alexander Morillo had one of his best offensive nights with 28 points, five rebounds and seven assists. Willie Warren, meanwhile, added 19 points and three rebounds.
For Llaneros, Marcus Thomas stood out with 29 points, two rebounds and two assists, followed by Aarom Espinoza with 14 points.
