E-Rod left the game with an apparent injury

The Venezuelan could barely hang an out and received up to three runs

Just one out I can get the Venezuelan Eduardo Rodríguez (E-Rod) this Wednesday in the setback of the Detroit Tigers against the Tampa Bay Rays 6-1. Initial reports indicate a possible injury.

The left-hander started allowing three consecutive hits, walked Randy Arozarena and received two-run RBI from Francisco Mejía. In the blink of an eye the game was 3-0 with no outs.

E-Rod got the first out with a fly ball, but a second walk took him out of the game. He himself pointed to the dugout and, after the technical visit, left the mound.

His work was in a third of an inning of four hits, three runs and two walks. He threw 23 pitches.

A first press report showed the possible injury and detailed that the Venezuelan could barely approach the 90 mph threshold.

The Tigers are still expected to detail what happened with E-Rod.

So far, the Bengals have four starting pitchers on the disabled list: Casey Mize (elbow), Matt Manning (shoulder), Michael Pineda (finger) and Tyler Alexander (shoulder).

E-Rod from less to more

In his debut with the Tigers, E-Rod hasn't been entirely consistent. However, he had shown great improvement in his last two outings.

Against the Astros on May 07, he pitched 6.2 innings of one run and eight strikeouts. A week later he pitched the same number of innings and whitewashed the Orioles for their first win of the season.

In fact, his May ERA, including Wednesday's outing, is 2.37, much less than the 5.03 posted in April.

Detroit hopes that this incident does not escalate and the Venezuelan has the opportunity to return to the mound soon.
