Swiatek wins in Paris and extends his winning streak

Poland's Iga Swiatek added her 29th win in a row and is 3 shy of equaling Justine Henin's record

The No. 1 in the WTA ranking Iga Swiatek debuted with victory in the Roland Garros, beating the Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko with a convincing result of 6-2 and 6-0.

In just 54 minutes the Pole managed to sweep the Ukrainian to add 29 consecutive victories. The Pole is 3 wins away from the streak established by the Belgian Justine Henin (32).

With 75% points earned for Swiatek on the No. 119, he didn't give up many points. Tsurenko who managed 10 in the first sets and 12 in the second.

Swiatek will meet in the next round with the winner of the matchup Alison Riske and Dayana Yastremska that was suspended on Monday morning.

After the retirement in March of Australia's Ashley Barty, the world number 1 commented, "I work every day to be 100% focused on my tennis and not on the statistics."

Swiatek 20 years old

The 20-year-old Polish Iga Swiatek is already an illustrious player in women's tennis. She is the great favorite to be crowned at Roland Garros, a title that she also won in October 2020, thus becoming the first Pole in the entire history of a Grand Slam. She already has seven titles under her belt, but she wants to win the tournament in France again.
