The number one tennis player in the world, Iga Swiatek, will miss an important stop on the WTA circuit. The Pole will not be able to attend the Miami Masters 1000 due to injury.
Swiatek announced this Wednesday through a statement on his twitter account, that he suffers from a rib injury due to a strong cough caused by an infection he contracted in Doha.

"Health is the most important. I am thankful that this has been my first problem in a long time and that I have been able to compete so much in perfect shape”, indicates the statement from the Polish tennis player.
The tennis player also pointed out that during the Indian Wells Masters 1000 she was struggling with discomfort in her costal area.
"I tried to handle the situation and continue playing as long as it was safe for me," he said.
Her place in the tournament that takes place in Florida will be occupied by the Austrian Julia Grabher.
With the absence of Iga Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka and Yelena Rybakina are now the main candidates for the Miami Masters 1000 title.
