Holger Rune gave the surprise at Roland Garros

The 19-year-old beat Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas in four sets.

The Danish Holger Rune, 19 years old and currently number 40 in the ATP ranking, surprised the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, fourth in the world and finalist of the last edition of Roland Garros.

Rune defeated the Greek 7-5, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in 3 hours and 1 minute, to qualify for the first time in the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam.

His next rival will be the Norwegian Casper Ruud, executioner of the Polish Hubert Hurkacz, 6-25, 6-3, 3-6 and 6-3, to also become the first tennis player of his nationality to reach that round in Paris.

Rune's classification among the top eight is added to that of the Spanish Carlos Alcaraz, also 19 years old, so Roland Garros will have two under 20s in that round for the first time since 1994.
