Table tennis shone with two gold medals in Peru

The national team won in Sub 15 in the Suram Infantil and Juvenil Lima 2022

Venezuelan table tennis comes from having an outstanding international performance by winning two gold, one silver and three bronze medals at the Lima 2022 South American Children and Youth Championship, recently held in Lima, Peru.

The competition brought together 171 male and 162 female players from the Under 15 and Under 19 categories in the individual, doubles (female, male and mixed) and team styles representing Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru and Venezuela.

Venezuela began the event by winning the gold medal for the U15 Men's Team made up of Josué Ríos, Jesús Tovar, Luidwing Perozo and Francisco López, who gave the big surprise by winning undefeated. The Venezuelans qualified first in their eliminatory group with consecutive victories against Ecuador by 3-2, Paraguay 3-0 and Argentina by 3-1, in the final key they beat Brazil in the semifinal 3-2 and in the final they were unbeatable against Peru with a resounding 3-0.

By team, Venezuela was also on the podium in the remaining three categories, winning the bronze medal in Women's Sub 15 and in Women's and Men's Sub 19.

The second gold medal for the country was won by Carlos Josué Ríos in the U15 individual, after beating Brazilian Felipe Faustino de Lara 3-1 (5, 8, -7, 5) in the final.

In the round of 16 he beat the Ecuadorian Joshua Robayo 3-1, in the quarterfinals, he surpassed the Peruvian Diego Takeda, 3-0, in the semifinals he beat the Ecuadorian Juan Martin González 3-1, and in the grand final Lara.
