Usyk and Joshua heat up the rematch fight

The heavyweight champion and the challenger crossed paths during the press conference

First there were even polite words. Then came increasingly long and tense periods, during which both fighters stared each other in the face.

Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua appeared together Tuesday for the first time since their world heavyweight title rematch was announced.

Both boxers attended a press conference in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where the fight will take place on August 20. The match culminated when Usyk, the WBA, WBO and IBF monarch, refused to move away from Joshua, the challenger, who also remained holding his gaze, long after both were asked to leave the room.

Shortly before, Joshua had sat down with his new trainer Robert Garcia and warned that he would correct the mistakes he made during his loss in the first fight. Instead, Usyk's team seemed to focus on what's to come after facing Joshua.
