The Belarusian Victoria Azarenka, former world tennis number one, beat the American Jessica Pegula on Wednesday and became the first Indian Wells semifinalist.
Azarenka, current number 32 in the world ranking, beat Pegula (24th) by 6-4 and 6-2.

The game barely lasted one hour and 34 minutes of play.
Winner in Indian Wells in 2012 and 2016, Azarenka will face the winner in the semifinals between the Latvian Jelena Ostapenko and the American Shelby Rogers.
