Yulimar Rojas will not play the Pan American Games

The Creole will take a break to get to the 2024 Olympic Games as best as possible

The Venezuelan triple jumper and current world champion, Yulimar Rojas, announced that she will not participate in the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games to be held next October in Chile. 

The information was released by Team Rojas through a statement on their social networks, where they detailed that their goal is to have a better performance for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.. 

“To the entire sports family, of the Pan American and global Olympic Movement, especially to my followers and the people of Venezuela, I want to inform you that we have decided to decline to attend the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games,” he explained. 

Yulimar stressed that this decision is supported to protect his 2024 season and not put his body at risk for the highest competition in world athletics. 

“My Ourdoor season ends on September 17 with my participation in the Diamond League final in Eugene, after that it is important to rest and regain strength,” he emphasized.

Rojas apologized to all those people who were waiting to see her in the city of Santiago to defend her current title as current champion of the Pan American Games. 

“I apologize to all Venezuelans who had already purchased their tickets to see me jump in Santiago 2023, but this is a difficult decision that we have made with the goal of continuing to bring joy to the country in the Olympic Games,” said Yulimar. 

Yulimar Rojas is not only the current Pan-American triple jump champion, but she is also the owner of the Pan-American record with a distance of 15.11 meters.
