Venezuelans train to face South American Kickboxing

FÉLIX MENDOZA | CARACAS.-  El Kickboxing It is a physical activity that has little follow-up by sports fans, but Venezuela has a large amount of talent and such is the case of the Creole delegation that will be present at the South American specialty organized by the World Association of Kickboxing Organizations (WAKO), which will take place in Lima, Peru from November 14 to 18.

Those in charge of representing the country are Francisco Marín, Reinaldo Acosta, Irwin Briceño and Junior Méndez in the modality 'point figthing' or point fight that has similarities to Karate Do, with differences in the protection of the athlete.

These fighters obtained their ticket to the continental event after winning the championship titles of the Venezuelan Professional Kickboxing League in the fourth Bolivarian Championship of the specialty. The athletes belong to the Chelmar organization, an entity that has more than 20 years of training in martial arts.

The international event will feature some 600 athletes, Representatives of Peru, Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, Colombia, Chile and Venezuela.

"We have very good expectations, because in Lima there will be good logistics and great talents from South America will attend, Brazil and Argentina are strong rivals," he said. Reinaldo Acosta.

Venezuelan talents continue their preparation for the fair and hope that more people are interested in practicing this sport in the Chelmar organization.
