Neymar equaled Pelé's goalscoring record

The PSG winger reached 77 goals with the "canarinha"

Neymar has a personal triumph to celebrate, however, he may not after Brazil's elimination from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar following a 4-2 loss to Croatia on penalties in the quarterfinals.

This Friday's game went to extra time, where the star of the South American team, Neymar Jr. scored the first goal for the Brazilian team. With this goal, the PSG player has 77 goals, the same amount as Pelé according to FIFA.

Despite matching this figure, the Brazilian Football Federation (FBF) does not recognize the fact, since its statistics show that 'O Rei' recorded 95 goals while he was active as a player.

Many fans in Brazil recognize that this record is the only legitimate one, the number to beat, since in the sixties this type of matches against teams was a common practice, and now it is impossible to play by FIFA rules.

Now, this is a milestone that has reached the extreme but there may be no celebration for the painful defeat that the canarinha took this Friday.
