Venezuela to make up its pre-Olympic performance

Venezuela arrived in neighboring lands with the sky-high hopes of getting a ticket to Tokyo 2020, but that spirit could not translate into good performances so it reaches the last date without options.

The under-23 team faces Argentina - already classified for the second round - tonight in search of a result that makes the performance below the level that was expected.

The Venezuelans arrive with one victory and two defeats, the last one against the local team, which sealed the Creole elimination from the South American tournament.

With a team without options and another already classified, the game will have variations on both sides, something that Venezuela could take advantage of to get a positive result.

Josua Mejías and Williams Velásquez will not be the central pair due to accumulation of cards. Sandro Notaroberto and Jean Fuentes will supply them.

Anderson Contreras, who incredibly has not seen a minute of action, could be in the middle of the field, like Matías Lacava, looking to give him important minutes at the wheel of 17 years.

Another who could also be there from the beginning is the winger Jesús Vargas.

For its part, the Albiceleste team will give rest to several of its figures in an effort to keep them for the decisive phase of the tournament.

The engagement will take place at the Hernán Ramírez Villegas stadium in the city of Pereira at 7:00 pm Venezuela time.
