Metropolitanos took advantage of their 3-1 victory against Deportivo Lara and consolidated Monagas' second straight loss (0-1 against Zamora) to rise to the top of the 2022 Futve League standings.
The purple team has accumulated 28 points and has finished the first round of the championship, to the surprise of many, as the most effective team in the competition.
Hand in hand with players like Robinson Flores, the Paraguayan Walter Araujo and the experienced Irwin Antón and Charlis Ortiz, they have not overlooked every opportunity to transcend the table and stay among the first steps of it.
The great offensive reference of those led by José María Morr during the first half of the tournament was Robinson Flores. The winger registers seven goals and has been providential for the people of the capital day after day.

Beyond the effectiveness in attack, the defense has also been one of his high points. Commanded by Jean Franco Fuentes and Andrés Ferro, who despite their youth (25 and 20 years old, respectively), have shown enough gallantry to watch clashes in the highest category of Venezuelan football.
Fuentes' internship in Colombia has been of great use to the violet defense since the championship began. This has been demonstrated by the fact that Metropolitanos is the team with the third best defensive record in the country (11 goals against). The only ones that surpass him in said line are Zamora (8) and Carabobo (10).
The next match they will play, corresponding to the second round of the Futve League, will be precisely against Lara, at the Farid Richa de Barquisimeto.
They depend on themselves to add three more points and keep clinging to the first place in the table.
