Caracas FC secured an international tournament against UCV

The Ávila reds knew how to hold on and attack the Ucevistas with one less player

Caracas FC drew goalless against UCV FC last Saturday to secure the 2024 Copa Suramericana. Now the objective is to qualify for the final phase and get a place in next year's Copa Libertadores.

The UCV Olympic stadium was the scene of an intense match where the figures were the goalkeepers of both teams: Alain Baroja for the Avileños and Juan Reyes for the Ucevistas.

There were a total of seven shots on goal, four of them from Caracas, who knew how to hold on and continue attacking despite playing with one less from the 28th minute.

Bryant Ortega received the first yellow card with a stomp on John Alvarado, two minutes later he made a strong tackle on Luis Blanco's ankle to receive the second yellow card and the red one.

“It was not the result we wanted. We played with 10 and it was difficult for us. Despite this we went ahead and had a chance to win. We leave hurt, but calm because the team showed courage,” Baroja said after the game.

In the match, controversial plays were presented with the refereeing led by Emikar Calderas.

At 56', Jhonny González from UCV made a strong tackle on Saúl Guarirapa similar to Ortega's last foul, but González did not receive a card.

Another play was the goal disallowed by Luis Ruiz from UCV in the 94th minute after a pass from Joantony Carmona. The judge noted that the ball had gone over the goal line before the center.
