The Ecuadorian team stood on the court wanting to add their first three points, knowing that they would face the champion of the national tournament on the second day.
The first half of the commitment was even, no squad was willing to give up. Rafael Morillo tried several times to open the scoring, but the captain faces a scoring drought.
The two squads went into the break with a 0-0 draw.
The intensity rose for the second half of the engagement. Carlos “la bola” Vásquez was one of the best performances by Centauros since the goalkeeper was attentive to all the opponent's movements and did not allow the ball to enter.
There was little left for the duel to end. Robinson Romero's men adjusted their lines more to seal their classification and remain undefeated.
Six minutes into the second half, Eneiker Morales did not forgive Argentine goalkeeper Emmanuel Alarcon. The Venezuelan sent the ball over the goal and managed to score the only goal for the visitors.
“Thank God for the goal, it was a difficult match, Bocca was a tough opponent, but as I have always said we all worked and the victory was achieved”, Morales added after the match.
One target was enough for the team from Caracas to maintain the leadership of group C with six points. Now it is expected that they reach the final phase without defeats.
For the third date of the South American tournament, Centauros will face Peñarol from Uruguay at 6:00 PM at the Poliedro de Caracas.
