Boca Juniors president Jorge Amor Ameal ruled out the signing of Uruguayan forward Edinson Cavani, from Paris Saint Germain, for financial reasons.
"It fills us with pride that a player like Cavani says he wants to wear our club's shirt, but the reality is that our economy is not Cavani's," Ameal said in dialogue with Radio Splendid.
“Before Cavani we talked about (Peruvian Paolo) Guerrero. And we said that Carlitos (Tevez) had nothing to envy Guerrero. And so it was, he had nothing to envy him, right? ”, He added.
Former Colombian defender Jorge Bermúdez, a member of the Boca Juniors soccer council, said this Sunday that he wanted Cavani to sign "very soon" for the club.
“We have to think more about our players and believe in them. That yes, nobody is going to argue that Cavani is a great player”, added Ameal.
In addition, the player's agent, Nando Guglielmone, assured Radio Belgrano on Tuesday that there are several teams interested in the 33-year-old Uruguayan forward and that no Xeneize manager contacted him.
