Brazil beats Peru and leads the tie

Marquinhos nailed a header in the 90th to rescue the three points

Brazil was placed as líder of the South American qualifying round for the 2026 World Cup after winning 1-0 on Tuesday in their visit to Peru. They add up to six possible points.

Marquinhos nailed a header into a corner of the goal defended by Pedro Gallese after a corner kick taken by Neymar, in the 90th minute. It was the culmination of a series of attacks by Canarinha led by Rapinha and Neymar, who had collided with Gallese's quick reflexes.

In the first half, Brazil frequently reached the Peruvian area and the Argentine referee Fernando Rapallini annulled two goals. The first was a right hand from Raphinha at 17 minutes and the second a header from Richarlison at 28 minutes, both due to being in an advanced position.
