Ten Hag affirms Cristiano's continuity at United

The Portuguese will remain linked to the Old Trafford team for the 2022/23 season

Coach Manchester United, the Dutch Erik ten Hag, reiterated that the Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo will remain at Old Trafford despite the desire to leave for a club that disputes the Champions League.

Ronaldo, 37, missed most of United's pre-season and was exempted from a tour of Asia and Australia by the club for family reasons.

The attacker returned in a friendly against Rayo Vallecano (1-1) last weekend. However, he made headlines again for leaving the Old Trafford stadium before the end of the match.

“We plan the season with him (Ronaldo). We have a top striker and I'm very happy that he's here, he's in the team and we stick to that plan," Ten Hag noted.

"There were many players who left (the stadium), but the focus is on Cristiano and that's not fair," continued the Dutch coach.

«I am satisfied with the whole team. There is a good culture and Cristiano is working very hard," Ten Hag said.

After a disastrous campaign in which United finished sixth in the Premier League last season, an extensive reshuffle of the team was expected during the summer market.
