«Lewa has a contract until June 2023»

Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic wants the Pole to continue until the end of his deal.

Bayern Munich wants to keep its striker Robert Lewandowski next season, the club's sporting director assured this Saturday, although the Pole has refused to extend his contract after 2023, according to the German press.

"Lewa has a contract until June 2023," sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic repeated on Sky this Saturday, before the start of the last day of the Bundesliga.

Asked about what he wanted to do in case the double best FIFA player of 2020 and 2021 leaves, the manager was calm: "I don't worry about that, we have never changed position," he said.

Until now, both the leaders and the coach of Bayern, Julian Nagelsmann, have all repeated that it is not a question of letting the 33-year-old striker go.

On Friday, however, German media claimed that the striker with 343 goals in a Bayern shirt refused to extend his contract beyond June 2023.

That means he could leave the club free next year, without paying any compensation to Bayern. The only way for the Bavarians to profit financially from his departure would be to sell him this year.

The media have stated for some weeks that FC Barcelona is interested in their services.
