AC Milan wins Serie A after 11 years

The 'rossoneri' raised the Scudetto number 19 in its history

AC Milan was proclaimed champion of the Italian Serie A for the nineteenth time in its history, and for the first time since 2011, this Sunday after winning 3-0 at Sassuolo.

The 'rossoneri', who needed just one point in this last game, did not let the 'Scudetto' escape.

They arrived líderIt is on this last day, with a two-point advantage over Inter Milan (2nd), that they did their part of the job by winning 3-0 against Sampdoria.

Milan made it very clear from the start that they were not willing to waste this opportunity.

Frenchman Olivier Giroud, assisted in both cases by Rafael Leao, put AC Milan ahead with a brace (minutes 17 and 32). Shortly after, Franck Kessié extended the account (36).

That made Inter's goal impossible, as they got their goals thanks to Ivan Perisic (49) and the Argentine Joaquín Correa (55, 57).

Those Inter goals came when Milan were already leading 3-0, so the 'tifosi' knew it wouldn't be enough.

AC Milan closed their season with an impressive final sprint of sixteen games in a row without losing and with a single league defeat in the second round of the championship.

When Milan won their previous Serie A title, in 2011, the club still belonged to Silvio Berlusconi, who preserved them for 30 years (1986-2017).

For the rest of the day:

  • Rome 3-0 Turin
  • Bologna 1-0 Genoa
  • Fiorentina 2-0 Juventus
  • Empoli 1-0 Atalanta
  • Lazio 3-3 Hellas
  • Napoli 3-0 Spezia
  • Inter 3-0 Sampdoria
