Marco Asensio announced his departure from Real Madrid

The Spanish player ended his contract and rejected the option to renew with the meringues

The Spanish soccer player, Marco Asensio, formally announced his departure from Real Madrid after seven seasons in which he wore the white shirt on all European stages.

Through a video on his social networks, the player thanked the sports institution and the fans for all the great moments he experienced within their ranks.

“Dear Real Madrid fans, today I address you with a heart full of mixed feelings. From a very young age, Real Madrid became my passion, my dream and my most precious goal. And I have had the privilege of making this dream come true in these wonderful years”, he expressed.

Asensio was one of the players in the merengue team whose contract ended on June 30 and after rejecting the renewal offer, he will now have to look for a new team that he can reinforce.

The Spaniard's decision would be based on the fact that he has gone to a secondary role in Carlo Ancelotti's scheme, having been surpassed by other footballers such as Rodrygo Goes and Federico Valverde.

In 285 games played by Asensio with the Real Madrid shirt, he left a mark of 62 goals and 32 assists.

“Madridistas will never forget his career and his exemplary behavior during all this time. Real Madrid is and will always be his home, and he wishes him and his entire family good luck in this new stage”, they detailed.
