Marcelo has announced the end of his relationship with Real Madrid, after raising his ear in the Champions League final this Saturday. The Brazilian said goodbye to the fans after playing 16 seasons with the merengue team.
The 34-year-old winger arrived at the merengue team in the Season 2007 after having played in the Fulminense of the first division of Brazil.
“It is a very beautiful moment. When you are the first captain you dream of lifting the cup and I have become the only Brazilian who has lifted a Champions League as captain of Real Madrid, "said Marcelo in the mixed zone.
During his stay in the old continent he achieved the following triumphs:
- Six Spanish Leagues
- Four Club World Cups
- Three European Super Cups
- Two King's Cups
- Five Spanish Super Cups
- Five Champions Leagues
At 34 years old, he does not plan to retire from football, now he will embark on a new path without being accompanied by Madrid.
Staying for more than a decade at the club gave him the opportunity to welcome and fire various players who have passed through Madrid, a franchise with more than 100 years of history. Among them stand out Cristiano Ronaldo, Sergio Ramos and James Rodríguez.
"I don't feel like a legend, I'm a person who enjoys every moment. I have been lucky to be captain and lift the Cup before my goodbye. The last game at the Bernabéu was a mini farewell but now I can't say goodbye better than with my fifth Champions League. I have closed a very nice cycle, ”Marcelo sentenced.
Now it's Marcelo's turn to say goodbye to the team that became his home for a long time. At the moment it is unknown what his next home will be and he ruled out that the work as a technician does not enter into his plans.
