Venezuelan riders Sonny León, Edgar “El Tendón” Pérez and Mychel Sánchez stood out as the most outstanding last weekend on the circuits of the United States.
León, brand-new winner of the 2022 Kentucky Derby aboard Rich Strike, won the Armed Forces Stakes, held as the tenth race last Saturday at Gulfstream Park, with a prize of $65.000, a test in which Marcos Meneses, also a national, took the second position with Cheerful Charlie.
León triumphed on Friday through Conceptus, to reach 121 wins in the season and 820 for life in the United States.

Edgar “El Tendón” Pérez continues with an outstanding season by visiting the winners' park six times.
Pérez started the week with Boris in the sixth race, to repeat with Tap Gold in the seventh and Poema in the eighth.
During the Saturday session, the “Tendón” successfully mounted Final Episode in the third and Lamplighter Jack in the eighth to complete 76 conquests during 2022 and 897 for life in the North ovals.
On Sunday he closed with a flourish by winning the sixth competition aboard Double Tough Tiger.
Two classics in Philly
The Zulian jockey Mychel Sánchez won two classics during the selective afternoon last Saturday at Parx Racing, Philadelphia, where Taiba won the Pennsylvania Derby, held as the central test of the day.
The jockey from Zulia impeccably rode Gordian Knot in the Prince Lucky Stakes, with a prize of 200.000 dollars, and in the last of the afternoon he led Buy Land and See to victory in the Alphabet Soup Handicap, with a prize of 200.000 dollars.
Mychel reached 62 photos in the year and was six laurels away from 1.000 wins by totaling 994 for life in the North.
Emisael Jaramillo and Leonel Reyes Ramos also won.
