Kentucky Derby at risk

The US authorities, who announced the holding of the Kentucky Derby, next May 2 at Churchill Downs, behind closed doors, are considering the possibility of changing the date for the first Saturday in September, due to the alleged refusal of some owners not to run without public.

In the famous race, which opens the American Triple Crown, King Guillermo, a trained Juan Carlos Ávila, who reached his classification in the Tampa Bay Downs, with the ride of Samy Camacho, representing the colors of Víctor Martínez and the care, would be enrolled as a stables of José Padrón.

The Venezuelan team will seek to emulate the feat achieved by Gustavo Ávila, Juan Arias, Juan Quintero and Pedro Baptista, in 1971 with the Cañonero horse.

It was also learned that the activities at the Aqueduct racecourse, New York, were suspended and other racetracks could run with the same fate due to the advance of the Coronavirus.
