Son of Karun shines at Churchill Downs

Atta Boy Anthony surprised in the sixth race last Friday

Atta Boy Anthony, a son of Venezuelan stallion Karún in Hy María Edu, by City Zip, surprised in race six last Friday at Churchill Downs, Louisville, ridden by Thiago Canuto.

The four-year-old chestnut, born in Kentucky, reached his fourth victory in 16 starts under the preparation of Hugo Andrade, who also owns him.

Karún is a remembered son of Arch in Raven Quiver by Old Trieste, winner of 17 races in 44 starts at the La Rinconada and Santa Rita racecourses, in the latter, he stood out as one of the best horses that has participated, with triumphs in the most important competitions, including the Clásico Nuestra Señora de la Chiquinquirá four times and in which he won the title of Maduro Champion and Horse of the Year for the 2012 season, according to the web portal Anécdotas Hípicas Venezolanas. Karún won nine classics, all in Santa Rita, finishing with 6 seconds, 4 thirds, 7 fourths, 4 fifths and six non-appearances on the board.
