Japan was a steamroller from the first game in the 2023 World Baseball Classic, which culminated in a 2-3 victory for the Japanese team.
Led by Hideki Kuriyama and led by Shohei Ohtani, the team did not know defeat in 7 games that it played between the first phase and the final of the tournament.
The Japanese manager offered statements to the press after the match against Team USA and assured that it is not easy for him to summarize what the WBC means for his team.

"I think baseball is great and it describes life, it's not just Shohei, it's all the Japanese players who participated in this classic," he said.
Kuriyama pointed out that it was a good experience for everyone on the team to have played the tournament.
“I think it was a very valuable experience for everyone. Also an example for the children in Japan who are watching, and who could think of being baseball players”, concluded the champion manager.
