The eternal rivalry resumes on October 26

Caracas and Magallanes will collide for the first time in the 2023-24 season in La Rinconada

The eternal rivals will have their first confrontation of the 2023-2024 season of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League on Thursday, October 26, when the Leones del Caracas receive the Navegantes del Magallanes in their new cave at the Monumental de La Rinconada stadium, at 7:00 pm.

It will be the 823rd meeting between the two teams that bring together the largest number of fans in our country, since they met for the first time on October 31, 1942 at the San Agustín stadium.

The victory in their first duel went to Magallanes 4-0 with effective pitching from Vidal López, who had Alejandro “Patón” Carrasquel as his rival on the mound.

The longhairs and buccaneers will collide in the majestic La Rinconada park, with capacity for more than 37 thousand people. This stage premiered and had great attendance during the last Caribbean Series.

In total, the eternal rivals will play eight times in the knockout round, four in Caracas and the same number in Valencia.

Magallanes did not win last season at the Universitario stadium, neither against the Leones nor against the Tiburones de La Guaira. During the 1979-80 season, the Leones del Caracas scored the famous 14-0 scoreline by sweeping the series against Magallanes.

Magallanes has not celebrated a victory in the capital of the republic since January 4, 2022. That day with sensational work by Yohander Méndez, who threw no hit no run for five innings, he blanked Caracas 5-0 in a round robin match.

La Nave dominates the particular series for life with 408 wins to Caracas's 400 wins. In addition, there have been 14 ties.
