Guillermo Moscoso tied up Caciques

The experienced pitcher completed 5.0 innings and allowed just one run

The experience and expertise of Guillermo Moscoso were protagonists this Thursday in the Ciudad Universitaria park, where Centauros de La Guaira defeated 6-2 Caciques de Distrito. Marco Davalillo's men remain solid at the top of the 2023 Major League with a 7-4 record.

The stellar pitcher made his third appearance of the year and this time he managed to complete all five innings. He allowed just one run, walked one and struck out two to ultimately earn his first win of the year and improve his ERA to 3.60.

The coastal offense backed up Guillermo Moscoso early, also capitalizing on the many blinks from the opposing pitching. They went ahead in the second inning on third baseman Adrián Valerio's two-run homer. And, two innings later, they extended their lead to 3-0 on a bases-loaded walk to Ricardo Cubillán.

Caciques, discounted with a hairline in the fourth inning after a gruesome home run by Dennicher Carrasco, the fourth he has achieved this season.

But, faced with that only reaction allowed by Moscoso, Centauros's response was forceful. They drew two more bases-loaded walks in the fifth to make it 5-1 and added one more the next inning.

Distrito stepped on the register again in the bottom of the sixth after a solo home run by Gersel Pitre off reliever Adrián Sánchez. But the difference was too much for the few concessions that the La Guaira pitching offered.

Henry Medina (1.1) and Luis Pacheco (2.0) combined to withdraw the last three innings at home, allowing just one hit.

Adrián Valerio was the offensive spark plug for Centauros as he finished perfect 3-3 with two walks, three RBIs and one run scored to improve his average to .219.

In the end, the setback went to the account of Eduar López (0-1), in three and two-thirds innings he allowed three runs, two of them clean, handed out two tickets and struck out an opponent.
