After performing in the most recent campaign of the Major League of Professional Baseball with the champion Senadores de Caracas, veteran Mirandino infielder Wilfredo Tovar will travel to Mexico in the next few hours to reinforce the Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos club in the postseason.
Wilfredo Tovar, 29 years old, will be registered in the place of Guianan pitcher José Flores, who was released.
The Tecolotes are in second place in the North Zone in the last week of the regular season. Until Monday, they had a record of 54-26, one game behind líderes and defending circuit champions, Toros de Tijuana, who have a record of 57-27.
Wilfredo Tovar accumulated 46 career games in the Major Leagues over four seasons with the Mets and Angels. In the LVBP he is a member of the Caracas club.
Sardines with Laguna Union
In another move at the end of the campaign, the Mariachis de Guadalajara loaned the experienced Guianese infielder Luis Sardiñas to the Algodoneros de Unión Laguna, who in his second season in Mexico is batting an average of .351 (299-105).
It is also líder in the doubles department (27) and has hit 15 homers with 51 RBIs and 64 runs scored in 80 games.
