Dusty Baker at record steps as manager

For the second time in his long career he led a team to exceed one hundred wins

There is no doubt that a place in the Hall of Fame awaits Dusty Baker in Cooperstown, after completing his retirement as manager in the Major League Baseball.

However, it is time to focus on the present of this great strategist with 25 campaigns in tow since that year 1993 when he took his first steps as a manager in the best baseball in the world.

In his career as a driver in the MLB, Dusty Baker has had to manage extremely successful teams. San Francisco Giants, Cincinnati Reds, Chicago Cubs, Washington Nationals and most recently the Houston Astros; However, with only two of these teams he has managed to exceed one hundred wins in a season twice: in 1993 and now in this 2022 campaign.

With 103 laurels in that 93 season, Baker guided the San Francisco Giants of Barry Bonds, Will Clark and Matt Williams, and even so, he was one game away from the classification, surpassed by the 104 wins of the Atlanta Braves, in the defunct Western Division.

Almost thirty years passed for this seventy-year-old manager, with 2.088 wins on his resume, leading a team to close the franchise with more than 100 wins.

With 101 wins for the sidereals, Baker is on pace to set a career-high in a Major League regular season with eight games to go – all of them at Minute Maid Park in Houston.

The native of Riverside, California came through the ranks of the Astros in 2020, in the midst of the sign-stealing scandal, in which they were involved in 2017.

As the ideal man to iron out the rough edges between fans and the team, Baker has given himself the task of responding with triumphs, since since 2020 at the helm of the Astros he has a record of 225-151 and also has two Division Pennants (2021 and 2022); a Championship Series (2020) and World Series (2021).
