Cañeros de Los Mochis broke a curse of 20 years without being crowned in the Mexican Pacific League, by whitewashing the Algodoneros de Guasave team 5-0 on Saturday night to win the Final Series in six games.
One of the protagonists of this long-awaited triumph of 'the greens' was the Venezuelan manager José Moreno, the architect of said conquest.
"I am very proud of the boys and this is the result of all the work that was done during the season," said the strategist to the Mexican portal Línea Directa.

José Moreno was not alone in this feat for the Los Mochis organization. His compatriot Giovanni Carrara served as the team's pitching coach and along with the rest of the coaching staff broke the drought.
“Since the month of September we began this feat. We went game by game, step by step, and as we progressed, the guys became much more confident and began to believe that it was possible. And here we are, we are champions of Mexico”, highlighted the boss.
The first Venezuelan
His feat did not go under the table. In the last nine years only two foreigners, including Moreno, had raised a crown in the Pacific; now this pilot is the first Venezuelan to do so.
“First of all, I am grateful to Mexico for opening its doors for me and we hope it will not be the last. This country knows baseball and it is an honor to have achieved this title, ”he said.
Now, the next step for the Los Mochis pilot will be to structure the best Aztec team to face the Caribbean Series that will take place in Caracas between February 2 and 10.
The team plans to fly to national territory tomorrow and will be the first representative of the Caribbean fair to set foot in Venezuela, in search of the first Mexican crown since 2016
