Venezuelans, Willson Contreras and Ildemaro Vargas took the ball out of the park on Tuesday to command the victory (3 to 2) of the Chicago Cubs over the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Contreras, 29, hit his first home run of the spring, in the bottom of the first inning, to drive in a pair of runs.
The catcher from Puerto Cabello, Carabobo state, took advantage of a pitch in the outside corner by Zach Davies to send the ball over right field.
For his part, Vargas hit his homer, also off Davies, in the fifth inning.
With his home run this Tuesday, the native of Caripito, Monagas state, reached two home runs and five RBIs for the cause of Chicago in this spring training.
