The 28-year-old right-hander, born in Acarigua, Portuguesa state, has never been part of Creole professional baseball, except for a small internship with Leones del Caracas in the now-defunct Parallel League.

“We continue to seek to strengthen our Venezuelan pitching. Fandiño is an experienced free agent, who is going to give us depth in the bullpen and has no restrictions of any kind,” said a member of the filibusters.

As for his professional career, the pitcher was signed by the Texas Rangers as an international free agent in 2010.

In 2011, he played in the Dominican Summer League and in the two years that followed, he participated in the farms of the Texan infield, posting a career 4.62 ERA in 28 appearances.

The right-handed reliever has played the last few seasons in the Northern League of Mexico with the Algodoneros de San Luis. In Aztec land he added nine saves in 20 games and accumulated only five earned runs, 35 strikeouts and nine walks for an ERA of 1.99.

"I feel very happy to belong to a team with such a long history as Magallanes," said Fandiño.

“I am already committed to doing my job (…) It was something that I had in my plans,” he added.
