Four players reported to the Lions

Three pitchers and a Red Sox prospect were present on the second day of practice

With 30 players, the preseason of Leones del Caracas began, well this Friday -on the second day of practice- others joined.

Right-handers Eduardo Paredes and Alfred Gutiérrez, left-hander Randy Valladares and infielder Brainer Bonaci, a prospect for the Boston Red Sox, arrived in the dugout.

According to the Lions report, Paredes, Gutiérrez and Valladares joined the bullpen work they were already in: 

  • Michael Socolovich
  • Jesus Zambrano
  • Ricardo Rodríguez
  • Danny Rondon
  • Felix Carvallo
  • Joshua Cornielly
  • Emilio Marquez
  • Michael Alexander Rodriguez
  • Carlos Campos

A dream come true 

Both Gutiérrez and Randy Valladares are preparing to debut in the capital's ninth. Both came from the Margarita Braves in a trade involving catcher Juan Graterol. 

And the two confessed, in statements shared by the press team, that they always dreamed of playing with the Lions.

“I am focused on doing my job…Proud to be here. Almost all players have the dream of being able to play with Leones del Caracas, and it was my dream”, admitted Gutiérrez, one of the best arms of last season with an ERA of 1.53.

 “There is a lot of experience here, with high-level players. We are working for when they need me to contribute my grain of sand, ”said Randy Valladares (1.54 EFE) on his part.
