Tiburones de La Guaira signed the pitcher Ilmerson Colon, with a view to having reserves for a long-term future.

“I am grateful for the opportunity and the confidence they gave me to belong to this great team,” were Ilmerson's first words to the sharks' press department.

The left-hander, who has belonged to the Los Angeles Dodgers since last year, is in his second season in the Dominican Summer League. This year he has a record of four wins, one loss and one save in 24.1 episodes, passing 34 rivals by the guillotine. “Work and discipline at all times have made me improve day after day,” said the native of the Lara state.

The 18-year-old pitcher has not started a game in 24 appearances in his category. However, he mentioned that in any situation they need him, he will be giving “everything for everything.”

“If they give me the opportunity to make my debut, I will know how to take advantage of it,” he added.
Colón knows that Guairista fans are demanding and that their support is important: “There are three types of players: those who make things happen, those who see what happens and those who wonder what happened. “I am the first.”
