Julio Rodríguez takes out the bat in Seattle

The Dominican improved his average to .338 with three homers and eight RBIs

Julio Rodríguez was called to become one of the franchise players of the Seattle Mariners starting in 2022 and, although little by little he has made his way to the Majors, in this month of May a player has been seen most imposing in Scott Servais' lineup.

The first month passed modestly for the Dominican. A .206 average in 20 games was the result of his debut in the MLB.

From one moment to another, Rodríguez understood that he is more productive connecting balls everywhere on the field of play, than applying speed on the pads.

So far in May, Julio Rodríguez improved his average to .338 with three homers and eight RBIs and, despite only having two steals, the outfielder has looked more offensive than in his first month of action with Seattle; him to the point of reaping an average of .359 in his last 10 games, not counting last night against the Red Sox.

This offensive awakening of the Quisqueyan is what the Mariners need to fight for a hypothetical postseason spot after a 21-year drought. Since 2001, the Mariners haven't known what it's like to play ball in October.
