SPB will pause its calendar

The measure seeks to put an end to the controversy that harmed the players of the national team

La Professional Basketball Super League (SPB) will pause its calendar until the end of Venezuela's participation in Americup 2022, which will take place from tomorrow until September 11 on Brazilian soil.

This was announced this Thursday by the Minister of People's Power for Youth and Sports, Mervin Maldonado, after holding a meeting with the presidents of the SPB and the Venezuelan Basketball Federation (FVB).

The measure was taken with the aim of putting an end to the controversy that arose by not allowing the players of the national team to rejoin their respective SPB teams, despite not receiving the call to represent Venezuela in the Americup.

Michael Carrera and Gregory Vargas were the first players from Vinotinto de las Alturas to raise their voices against the provision of the SPB Technical Commission.

After multiple declarations of the referents of the selection and the president of the SPB, José Guerrero, the situation required a “Solomonic” solution in favor of national basketball.
