Gonzalo García: there is still a lot to grow

The DT of Crocodiles is not satisfied with the performance of the club, despite the winning start

Cocodrilos de Caracas was left on the verge of their seventh title last year, but that seems to be a thing of the past, since their positive start (3-0) in the 2023 Professional Basketball Super League (SPB) reflects this, although their coach Gonzalo García be cautious.

“It is very difficult to evaluate now the performance we are having because we have been working together for a very short time. We have players who are not physically fit. I feel that there is still a lot to grow. The good thing about all this is that we are winning, but there is a lot left in the league, ”he told Líder en Deportes the Argentine strategist.

García is barely in his second week in Venezuela, but since his arrival he has been intense in every match against his new club, which kicked off the calendar last Sunday at the United Nations Park (PNU).

“We have to correct a lot of things. We lack a lot of concept, the same as improving in attack, but as the games go by we will look better physically. I am getting used to working on the fly and seeing what we can modify, ”explained the man who had his first experience as a coach at the SPB.

At the moment, the lizards only have three of the five imported ones that they can use in this tournament and in this sense, García preferred not to get ahead of management by announcing those foreigners. "We are waiting for you. We need to reinforce the escort position, ”he blurted out.

Although his stay in our country has been short, the coach does not hide his satisfaction at being in a circuit and an organization with such a long tradition. “I am very comfortable, very happy. There are very educated, friendly people, and I am happy, ”he said.
