Lucas Gil Russo will try to project Diablos

Miranda returns this year to the local circuit after being absent in the first SPB

Diablos de Miranda was registered to take the ring in 2022, however, he dismissed his participation a few days before the start of the Professional Basketball Super League (SPB), for which he now returns with the clearest objectives.

He is so convinced of stepping on the Venezuelan courts again that he was one of the first clubs to start making his squad, which included recruiting new players and hiring a coach with international experience.

“The idea is to put together a young team that has a projection in the next two or three years. I was enthusiastic about the project from the beginning because it is a team that can be worked on and shaped according to the needs of Mirandino basketball. In this sense, I arrived to contribute my experience and my desire ”, he asserted to Líder en Deportes, Argentine coach Lucas Gil Russo.

Full throttle preseason

“I like the intensity with which we are working. Practices have gone up in level and little by little we are getting the gear we want. Together with the management, we have chosen good foreign material that, beyond individual flashes, has collective virtues so that they leave something for the youngest, ”he said.

For this tournament, Diablos will have an intern with a lot of friction inside and outside our borders. It is about the Venezuelan center José Ascanio who arrives via loans from Guaiqueríes, but he looks like the player who will lead the cast.

“He is still injured. We hope to have him in the second half of the campaign when he is at 100%. We know that he will give us a lot of experience and we will give him the chance to get well so that he can later win a place in the team that is going to the World Cup this year”, said who in 2022 directed for the first time in Venezuela during a South American U18 with a male Ecuadorian team.

Future in the region

The Mirandina organization held camps in Petare, Guatire, Charallave and Barlovento where 522 applicants to be part of the currency participated, but only 15 (from 15 to 21 years old) will be able to train in parallel with the professional team.

Without giving away anything in 2023

“We want them to feel identified with the boys. They will see a Diablos that will not give up anything and is intense in defense and attack," Gil said.
