The winter leagues have taken all kinds of precautions to avoid contagion of Covid-19; However, this week the Tigres de Licey organization reported five infected people, including the Venezuelan Sandy León.

The Ministry of Public Health announced that these cases were made known due to the protocol that is being applied in the tournament and new measures will be taken to prevent a spread within the teams that make up the league.

Other players who tested positive were César Valdez, Welington Castillo, Carlos Franco and Yasel Antuña, who will accompany the Venezuelan during the quarantine. Likewise, it was reported that the Tigres de Licey will not see more action during this week and the results of the PCR tests will determine their activity this month.

The receiver León traveled to the Dominican league due to the sanction that the Tigres de Aragua has by MLB. In foreign lands he has played two games without connecting unstoppable, and beyond this inconvenience the currency continues to count on the bigl eaguer for the remainder of the season.

Negrín Player of the Week

Yoanner Negrín, an old acquaintance of the LVBP, has shone during the first week of action in the Dominican Republic by reaching the “Player of the Week”. The right-hander received 59 votes, beating Domingo Germán who came in second.

The serpentinero (pitcher) was among the plans of several Creole organizations; although nothing materialized and I ended up traveling to Lidom. In a presentation at that contest, he added 5.0 innings without allowing hits and eight strikeouts.

While the slugger, Juan Francisco accompanied the gunman in that selection, reaping six RBIs and seven hits with Gigantes del Cibao.
