Independiente del Valle defeated Táchira

In the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana quarterfinals, the Ecuadorians won 1-0

Independiente del Valle, from Ecuador, defeated Deportivo Táchira 1-0 on Tuesday in the first leg of the quarterfinals of the Copa Sudamericana-2022.

Midfielder Marco Angulo scored the only goal of the match in the third minute.

At the Pueblo Nuevo stadium in San Cristóbal, in a spectacular play, in which goalkeeper Cristopher Varela was defeated, Angulo sentenced the Venezuelans.

Independiente del Valle, champion of the Copa Sudamericana in 2019, finished with ten men on the pitch after attacker Jaime Ayoví was sent off for a double warning in minute 59.

Táchira equalized with a goal from Panamanian Azmahar Ariano, but the VAR annulled the goal due to an advanced position.

The second leg of this tie will be played on Tuesday of next week.
