Botafogo interested in James Rodríguez

The Brazilian team holds talks with the Colombian to strengthen their ranks

The owner of Botafogo, the American businessman John Textor, assured that he is in talks with the midfielder James Rodriguez to join the Brasileirao this season.

The tycoon highlighted the complexity of the signing of the Colombian player, because his main objective is to sign with a team that allows him to return to Europe.

“We have been talking to him. Offers at this stage are often conversations about where a player fits in. It's not as clear as making a proposal”, Textor told the portal 'Lance!.

He also stressed that it is a "dream" for Botafogo to be able to sign former Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, especially after their return to the Brazilian First Division.

“My children grew up watching the Colombian national team and he was one of their favorite players. It is rare to have the possibility of being able to hire such a talent in South America », he expressed.

“I think he still has a lot of good years ahead of him in Europe,” Textor added.

In case of getting the pass from James, the cariocas would have to pay about 5.5 million dollars to Al-Rayyan of Qatar.

Rodríguez is also followed by other clubs in South America, especially Brazil, although the main candidate is Everton, a club to which he intends to return this year.
