Ball of the "Hand of God" was auctioned

The sports object was acquired for 2.4 million dollars this Wednesday

This Wednesday the ball from Diego Maradona's famous goal, entitled "Hand of God", was auctioned. For the object, around 2.4 million dollars were paid.

Ali Bin Nasser, was the referee who participated in this commitment for the 1986 World Cup when Argentina and England met in the quarterfinals of the World Cup and it was he himself who decided to offer the ball and submit it to a million-dollar auction.

A ball remembered by history

Maradona jumped as if to head but punched the ball past English goalkeeper Peter Shilton. Maradona later joked that the goal was scored “a bit with Maradona's head and a bit with the hand of God”, which gave him his emblematic name.

Speaking ahead of the auction, Bin Nasser: "I couldn't see the incident," he said clearly. The two players, Shilton and Maradona, saw me from behind."

The shirt Maradona wore that day against England sold in May for $9,3 million, at the time the highest price paid at auction for a sports artifact.
