Argentine coach Gustavo Alfaro told a group of Ecuadorian soccer idols this Thursday that when he arrived at the national team, on August 26 two years ago, there was “a complex moment”, exacerbated by the pandemic and the disinterest of some players in the calls of the Tri.
“I had to arrive at a complex moment in Ecuadorian soccer, enhanced by the issue of the covid-19 pandemic. And the scenario was not the most optimal », he declared.
"Some players lost interest, they gave up the national team, the supreme dream that we all had when we started kicking a ball, playing for the national team," recalled Alfaro, who qualified the Tri for the final phase of the fourth World Cup in its history, that of Qatar 2022.
