Venezuelan strategist Freddy González has announced to the group that he will travel to Paraguay on behalf of Venezuela in a new edition of Copa América. This is the third time that González leads the national team in the continental tournament.
A total of 14 men will wear the jersey for several weeks on foreign soil. On January 29, the Venezuelan team will debut against Peru.
As a novelty, Angel Muñoz will not travel with the group since he has a left zygomatic arch fracture and Enderson Suárez tested positive for Covid-19.

Venezuela is located in group B where they will have to face Brazil (sub world champion), Argentina, Paraguay and Bolivia. Prior to the trip, the squad worked for “18 days in the capital city, we had between 26 to 28 practices and three friendly matches. More than the rivals, it was to join the ideas again”, clarified the technical director in a press conference.
“After the World Cup, we come with a lot of joy. There is a young group, with experience. Also giving the opportunity to new faces who have been working with under-18 and under-20 teams.” Gonzalez stated.
