Deportivo La Guaira continues to trust its youth and Williams Lugo is one of them. The midfielder, who emerged from the club's quarry and then went home on loan, scored the first goal with the orange jersey in the club's 2-0 victory over Carabobo on Thursday in Puerto Cabello.

"Thank God the goal is given to me, it is something that when you gain confidence with your teammates, with the captain and with Professor Daniel (Farías) to play the first game, you adapt," the midfielder said exclusively to the Daily Leader in Sports.

Lugo was one of the signings of the 2020 season of those led by Daniel Farías, from Portuguesa FC.

The 23-year-old right-hander explained what was the first triumph of the Littoral people in the opening of the tournament. “It was a very difficult game after so many months without playing. We had already prepared for this and we were eager for the tournament to start to show what we are made of ”, said Lugo, who revealed how they measured the match after the state of the grass due to the rain. "The court was a bit wet but we countered well, the team was better and luckily we got all three points on the first date."

Rest day

The second date of Group "A" will take place this Saturday and Sunday, so the coastal team will have the rest day. The former Portuguesa indicated how positive it will be for him and his teammates to recover their loads to think about the next match on Tuesday against Trujillanos FC.

“For us it is very positive to have this rest date to release a little more burden, since later we will have to play more often and we will be physically and mentally prepared for that. We have a very young team and that will benefit us. All teams will have a rest date in which they will be able to release loads, ”he said.

Likewise, Lugo ended by revealing the objectives of La Guaira in this short tournament within the Covid-19 bubble. "We are prepared to take the title and put Deportivo La Guaira at the top," he concluded.

The next appointment for Farías's pupils will be on Tuesday October 20 against Trujillanos for the third day of Group "A".
