The Atlético Minerio of Jefferson Savarino left Boca Juniors of Argentina out in the penalty shootout (3-1), after they will be equal to zero in the first leg and the return.

Savarino, who started both commitments, had an important action in the 73rd minute, but ended up failing heads-up.

The Venezuelan striker ended up playing 80 minutes and was replaced by Colombian Dylan Borrero.

The meeting was a copy of the first leg, with a gray football, with few occasions, many fouls and controversy.

Boca Juniors had a goal disallowed in the 62nd minute by a millimeter offside by Diego González in a play that ended with both Marcelo Weigandt. The cancellation caused a tangana between the benches of the two teams.

In the penalty shoot-out, the local goalkeeper Everson became the hero of the 'Galo' classification by saving the penalties of Sebastián Villa and Esteban Rolón and converting the fifth and decisive penalty of his team.

Only Marcos Rojo could score from the twelve steps for Boca, while for the local Argentine Nacho Fernández and Paraguayan Junior Alonso also did. Veteran forward Hulk and Hyoran missed their shots on the Brazilian team.

Mineiro awaits in the quarterfinals for the winner of the key between River Plate and Argentinos Juniors, which will be decided on Wednesday.
