FIFA maintains possibility of starting South American tie in September

The Venezuelan Football Federation (FVF) announced that, in an agreement made this Thursday by videoconference, FIFA made important decisions regarding the 2020 men's competitions, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, including maintaining the start date of the South American qualifier for the September period.

According to a press release from the world organization, one of the approved points is "to keep September 2020 as planned for Conmebol and UEFA, subject to continuous monitoring of the situation."

The point was accompanied by other decisions that also have to do with the competitiveness in men's soccer of other confederations.

In this way, and with full follow-up to the fight against the pandemic, Conmebol's World Cup will begin to compete in the ninth period of the current year with the same established format, where the national team will start facing Colombia in Barranquilla on the first date and the second receives in Merida to Paraguay.
